Rooney targets 300,000 pounds a week deal in new contract talks
Manchester United have opened talks in respect of new contract with Wayne Rooney. The striker who has 18 months to run on his current contract which is 250, 000 pounds a week. At 28 years of age, any contract he signs will likely take him to the latter years of his career at Old Trafford. The English dailies are running with stories that his new deal should he come to an agreement will be 300,000 pounds a week. which will make him the club's best paid player.
The striker had a running battle with Alex Ferguson towards the end of last season after he was accused of putting in a transfer request by the now departed Sir Alex. An allegation he denied. That however did not stop Chelsea from putting in several bids for his services in the summer which Manchester United rejected.
He has however been a key figure in David Moyes side looking motivated anytime he is on the field. A complete contrast to his performance of last season. His form has seen him become Manchester United's fourth highest goal scorer. But he has been hampered by injuries this season, and has barely featured since the year began. He is expected back in the squad against Cardiff in the Premier League on Tuesday.
