Micheal Essien has joined Ac Milan on a free transfer from Chelsea. He
has become a periphery figure at Stamford Bridge after spending last
season on loan at Real Mardrid. Where he made 35 appearances under the
stewardship of Jose Mourinho. His first spell at the bridge was a huge
success as he was instrumental to Chelsea reclaiming the Premier
League title in his first season in England during the 2005/2006
season. His later years were blighted by cruciate ligament injuries
that reduced his ability to influence games from midfield.
Still he leaves London with a complete trophy count including a
Champions League medal from Chelsea's truimph in Munich in 2012.
The former Chelsea record signing at 24 million pounds from Lyon in
2005 had this to say about his move to Italy;
"Why I decided to join Milan? Because of Seedorf. I spoke with him."
He becomes the 4th Ghanaian to play for AC Milan after Dominic
Adiyiah, Kevin Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari.
