Falcao might miss World Cup
Radamel Falcao suffered a suspected cruciate ligament injury in Monaco's 3-0 victory over Chasseley Mont's d'or Azergues in the French League Cup on Wednesday, a match that saw Monaco's new signing Nigeria's Elderson Echiejele featuring for 90 minutes.
Falcao was one of the scorers with his goal coming in the 29th minute, after he was carried off on a stretcher just before half time after he was tackled by defender Soner Ertek.
In a statement released by Monaco, it stated that Falcao was hit in his left knee, and further test will be carried out to examine the extent of the injury in the coming days.
There is no doubt that many neutrals would wish that this does not turn out to be a long term injury which will translate to him missing the world cup. Many will prefer to see such talent gracing the World Cup in Brazil in the colours of Colombia after his goal scoring exploits in Portugal and Spain over the past few years.
