Arsenal Make hard work of victory.
Villa 1
Arsenal 2
Two goals from Jack Wilshere and Oliver Giroud took Arsenal back to the top of the Premiership table. A comfortable first half from the gunners saw them take the lead in the 34th minute after a flowing move that was finished off by Jack Wilshere. One minute later just after the kick off Oliver Giroud added a second. it was largely an easy first 45minutes for the gunners with Christian Benteke typifying a lethargic performance from the home side. Play was temporarily halted after the head injury sustained by Nathan Baker.
The second half saw a more purposeful Villa side, who took the game to the gunners, but with few shots outside the penalty box that rarely troubled Arsenal's goalie. A complacent Arsenal side typified by Cazorla's failure to clear a routine bill led to a goal by Christian Benteke in the 75th minute.
Arsenal survived a nervy last 15minutes including six minutes of added time, with a bleeding Tomas Rosicky who was replaced by Oxlade Chamberlain to return to the top of the table.
