Manchester United in 35 million Pounds bid for Chelsea's Mata
Manchester United have made a bid of 35 millions pounds for Chelsea's midfielder for Juan Mata in a move that will see the Old Trafford outfit break their previous transfer record which currently stands at 30.75 millions pounds spent on Dimitar Berbatov in 2008.
The Chelsea play maker has struggled for first team action under Jose Mourinho after fallen behind Eden Hazard, Oscar and summer signing Willian. This despite having two stellar first seasons in England were he twice won the Chelsea player of the year award after inspiring the club to a Champions league, FA cup, and Europa league victory in his first two seasons in England. His last appearance came after he was substituted against Southampton on New year day a move he reacted angrily to.
With an eye on the World Cup in Brazil , the midfilder would want to reestablish a first team place before selection comes around.
Speaking about Mata's plight Mourinho said while he understood it was "hard" for Mata to sit on the bench, the Spaniard still had a "big role" to play at the club."There are fantastic players, but sometimes the fantastic players are more fantastic to a certain system and less fantastic in a certain model of play,"
"He is an unbelievable player and a fantastic boy who is trying his best to adapt.
It remains to be seen whether the move can be pushed through.
