Liverpool reject new £114m bid from Barcelona for Coutinho

According to report, Liverpool have rejected a new bid of £114m from
Barcelona for their Brazilian midfielder, Phillipe Coutinho.

The current bid is about £20m higher than the previous bid of £95m
from the Catalans.

It was the last bid that prompted the club's owners the Fenway Sports
Group, to issue a statement that the club would not consider any bid
for the 25 year old Coutinho, who is Liverpool's most important
player.
This prompted him to submit a transfer request that was swiftly
rejected by the club.

The player himself, is currently out injured with a back injury and a
date and has not be put for his return. He is expected miss
Liverpool's third competitive match of the season against Crystal
Palace at Anfield this weekend.

For Barcelona, they continue to find it hard to sign players in spite
of being awashed with cash following the sale of Neymar to PSG.

They have come stuck in their pursuit of not just Phillipe Coutinho,
but Oumane Dembele of Borussia Dortmund. With both clubs unwilling to
sell key players in the last weeks of the transfer window.

After the 5-1 aggregate defeat to Real Madrid in the clasico, they are
keen to strengthen a squad that has grown considerably weaker than it
was from last season.
