Klopp: James Milner like a new signing in midfield

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has liken James Milner to a new signing
in midfield while assessing the club's transfer business for the
summer.

He was speaking after the club rounded off its pre-season in Dublin.

"This pre-season has brought us new players. Alberto Moreno is 100 per
cent back, which is really nice after a difficult year.

"Andy Robertson has shown all the skills he's got. He's still adapting
to our kind of football but you can see what a threat he can be
offensively.

"That means James Milner is free to play in midfield. Without going
into the transfer market, we've got a new midfielder, which is nice."

Liverpool have brought in Andy Robertson for £8m, Mo' Salah for £39m
and Dominic Solanke on a free from Chelsea.

However, they have repeatedly been frustrated by further attempts to
add to their squad with several bids rejected for Leizpig's midfielder
Naby Keita and the one that never got off the ground in Southampton's
defender Virgil van Dijk, after they publcly rescinded their pursuit
of the player early this summer when the Saints expressed their
displeasure at an illegal approach.

With European matches to negotiate this season starting with a tricky
Champions League play-off match against Bundesliga side Hoffenheim
later this month, the German would be looking to add to this squad
before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.
