Wenger Considering Gamble On Alexis' Fitness

Arsene Wenger has intimated that he could take a gamble on the fitness
of Alexis Sanchez provided the Chilean comes through his fitness test
successfully. The 27 year old has been out with a hamstring injury
since November 29 when he limped off against Norwich.

After almost two months out, he has returned to full training, but
Wenger is still adopting a path of caution with the Chilean and as
such his comeback has been pushed back on several occasions after he
suffered a setback in December.

"He has two decisive days," Wenger said of Sanchez. "Today [Friday]
and tomorrow [Saturday]. He's fit. Do we take a gamble or not on his
injury?"

Alexis Sanchez is known to be a resilient player that pushes himself
hard, and it is understandable that the club is handling him with a
bevy of caution in order to avoid another setback.
However, Wenger would know as much as anybody else that it is better
for him to sit out the match away at Stoke instead of the risk of
losing him for a longer period.

The manager also spoke on the possibility of signing more players
after Mohammed Elneny's capture was confirmed on Thursday, but the
Frenchman would rather that his injured players return from injury.

According to him,

"I would prefer to have the players back from injuries," he opined.
"Welbeck is two to three weeks away and I am confident I will not find
a better player than Welbeck on the market."

With just one win in the Premier League in six visits to the Britannia
Stadium in the last couple of years, Arsenal would have to rewrite the
scripts to underline their title credentials.
