Ozil: You Are Either A Hero Or A Scapegoat

Arsenal and German play maker Mesut Ozil was recently voted as the
German player of the year for 2015. It is the fourth time he has won
the award. However, his performance for the German national team has
not been without criticism with claims that he did not do enough for
the team in the last calender year. However, he responded to these
criticisms in some quarters in what is perceived as his inconsistent
performances for the German national team. When he said thus,

"That's football, I am used to this," Ozil said in an interview with
the German Football Federation. "Sometimes you are the hero, and
sometimes the scapegoat.

The 27 year old has been in good form for Arsenal this season with 16
assists and three goals in the Premier League.
Drawing comparison between his performance for Germany and Arsenal, he
concluded that his performance for his club has not been up to that of
Germany in the preceeding year.

"With that said, I am aware that my performances for Germany may not
have been as consistent as they have been for Arsenal. My aim for 2016
is to impress [for] both."
