Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool go into
this weekend FA Cup tie at Exeter
without majority of its first team squad. The club's injury crisis took a new
turn in the last couple of days after Philippe Coutinho and Dejan Lovren limped
off with hamstring injuries in the league cup win over Stoke City
on Tuesday. Both players have now be ruled for a month and three weeks
respectively.
Kolo Toure also suffered cramp in
that match, and is now expected to miss the next three matches.
Liverpool
have as many as six players out with hamstring injuries, and they will be
without a recognised central defender for this weekend's FA Cup match.
Jordan Ibe, Divock Origi, Mamadou
Sakho, Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Danny Ings are all
out injured.
Jurgen Klopp has been criticised in
the English media for the increased spate of hamstring injuries at Liverpool since he took over. His unique pressing style
which requires his team to cover lots of ground on the pitch while running is
seen as the reason for the increased spate of hamstring injuries which specialist claims is caused by overloading of the muscles.
However, in his press conference on
Thursday, Jurgen Klopp debunked the claim that the style of play is the reason
for the injuries. According to him, he does not have a playing style, as his
players are just playing a normal football style.
