The Confederation of African Football CAF, has stripped Kenya of the
hosting right for the CHAN tournament for players that ply their trade
on the continent.
The decision was taken by the CAF executive committee meeting in Ghana
holding on the sideways of the WAFU Cup competition.
The East African nation were
already behind schedule in their preparation for a tournament that was
due to hold in January, 2018. With the four venues Kasarani, Nyayo,
Kinoru, Kipchoge Keino initially designated for the competition all
behind schedule.
A new bidding process will now open on Sunday. With inspection due in
10 days, while the new host for the competition will be announced in
15 days.
Meanwhile, at the same meeting CAF president Ahmad reiterated that
Cameroon will remain as host of the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
The Central African nation are currently behind schedule in the
upgrade of facilities, but there is still time for them to put things
in order as the tournament will now hold in June and July of 2019,
instead of the traditional January and February.
